Baraawe, South West State of Somalia – June 5, 2024
Baraawe, the official capital of the South West State of Somalia, successfully hosted the annual World Environment Day celebration, observed globally on June 5th each year.
The event was well-organized and led by the Environmental Development Organization Baraawe Branch, with a focus on raising public awareness about environmental protection and addressing the impacts of climate change.
Activities Conducted During the Event:
- A large-scale tree planting campaign was carried out at the Ministry of Education compound in Baraawe.
- Key roads connecting various neighborhoods in the district were also lined with newly planted trees, as part of ongoing efforts to combat deforestation and promote urban greenery.
