Tree Planting Initiative in Barwaaqo Neighborhood, Baidoa District

Today, a tree distribution initiative was successfully carried out for the residents of Barwaaqo neighborhood in Baidoa District. The event was organized as part of broader efforts to promote environmental sustainability and community-led climate action.

The handover ceremony was attended by key officials from the Baidoa District Local Government, including the Director of the Department of Health and Sanitation, Mr. Abshir Ali Hussein, and the Director of the Department of Education, Culture, and Tourism, Mr. Jibriil Hassan Mad-guud.

The distributed tree varieties included both fruit-bearing and shade-providing species. These trees were selected with the aim of enhancing the neighborhood’s natural beauty, contributing to climate regulation, and providing natural shelter particularly beneficial for women and children in the community.

This initiative forms part of the Baidoa Local Government’s ongoing commitment to environmental conservation, public awareness, and fostering inclusive community participation in addressing the impacts of climate change. It also supports the creation of a clean, healthy, and resilient urban environment for present and future generations.
