Today, DEDO Baidoa successfully conducted a capacity-building training session in Baidoa, Somalia, with the valuable support of GREDO Somalia. The training was delivered under the framework of the project titled:
“Support Youth-Led or Young Women Advocacy on Climate Change and the Humanitarian System for Children’s Rights.”
This important initiative aims to empower youth and young women to become active voices in advocating for climate action and the protection of children’s rights within their communities. Participants were engaged in interactive sessions focusing on:
- The impact of climate change on children and vulnerable populations
- Effective advocacy strategies within humanitarian systems
- Strengthening youth and women’s leadership in climate and child rights campaigns
- Building inclusive community action plans for sustainable environmental practices
The training brought together young leaders, activists, and local stakeholders, fostering collaboration and enhancing knowledge on how environmental issues intersect with human rights especially those of children.
By equipping participants with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to lead advocacy efforts, this initiative contributes to sustainable development goals (SDGs) and supports long-term resilience in the face of climate-related challenges.
DEDO Baidoa remains committed to creating platforms where youth and women can lead change, protect the most vulnerable, and shape a better, more sustainable future for all.
